I made one major mistake during my stay in Taiwan; not spending a full day in Beitou, the hot springs region in Taiwan. Beitou has a lot of beautiful nature and many outdoor hot springs to relax your body, mind and soul.
Taiwan has the largest collection of hot springs in the world due to the massive tectonic activity Taiwan is experiencing. That's why visiting a hot springs in Taiwan is an important bucket list item when visiting this beautiful country.
I arrived late in Beitou due to a long day of filming downtown Taipei but was pleasantly surprised upon noticing a full blown hot springs bath inside my hotel suite. The water in my private bath was literally taken from the mountains and was so enjoyable that I fell asleep which is actually quite dangerous.
In the early morning I decided to go for a quick jog around the hot springs area along the river that runs straight through Beitou. There wasn't even enough time in my schedule to visit the hot springs museum since I had to take the bullet train from Taipei to Tainan at noon.
So what do I recommend? Stay at least a full day in Beitou and book your night at Hotel Royal which includes the gorgeous onsuite private hot springs with a view of the downtown area of Beitou.
