Embarrassing Karaoke With My Japanese Friends In Kyoto
Taking the bullet train (Shinkansen) to Kyoto for some epic karaoke with my Japanese friends. Kyoto is an ancient Japanese city known for its beautiful shrines.
I jumped on the Shinkansen for a weekend trip to Kyoto to see my Japanese friends and visit the famous Kiyomizu shrine.
The Shinkansen took only 2 hours to get to Kyoto. The Japanese bullet trains are among the fastest in the world.
It has a population close to 1.5 million. Formerly the imperial capital of Japan.
Kyoto was quite an experience, we went to Purikura which is a crazy photo booth where you take pictures with all your friends and make funny faces, you can also draw on them afterwards.
I stayed at the Kyoto Dai-ni Tower Hotel in a luxurious classic Japanese suite where you sleep and eat on the floor in a traditional style.
In the evening we went for Karaoke in downtown Kyoto. This was my first karaoke experience and I was sold on the spot.
It was so much fun that we stayed in a private karaoke room singing for hours.
I was really sad to leave my Japanese friends and this gorgeous place at the end of the weekend but I am determined to go back one day.
About 20% of Japan's National Treasures and 14% of Important Cultural Properties exist in the city proper. The UNESCO World Heritage Site Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto (Kyoto, Uji and Otsu Cities) includes 17 locations in Kyoto, Uji in Kyoto Prefecture and Ōtsu in Shiga Prefecture. The site has been designated as World Heritage in 1994.
