Best Places for Nightlife in Reykjavik
1. Austur
Absolutely the best nightclub in Iceland located in the heart of Reykjavik with the hottest people.
2. B5
Young Icelandic people come here to drink and party hard, located on the main shopping street.
3. Den Danske Kro
Like the Kaffibarinn, another great bar but with a younger crowd often with long waiting queues to get in.
4. Kaffibarinn
Dark, cozy bar with an older crowd but great for an enjoyable night out.
5. Lebowski Bar
One of the better bars in Reyjavik with a massive dance floor.
6. Boston
Located on the 2nd floor, great to start off the night with a few cold brewski's.
Why not call a friend to show you around town instead of trying to figure everything out by yourself during a short stay or layover in Iceland. My buddy Darri McMahon is the master of the Reykjavik nightlife. He showed me some of the best bars and nightclubs in Reykjavik and introduced to some of the coolest and hottest people in Iceland.
The streets run wild on Saturday night and let me tell you these Icelanders truly know how to party hard and have a good time. We had VIP at the best night club in Reykjavik called Austur which had two floors and a large dance floor.
Darri introduced me to traditional Icelandic shots called Brennivin, also known as Black Death which is a liqourish tasting vodka. The Icelandic folks in Reykjavik are incredible; they are polite, smart, friendly and above all have a good sense of humor. While enjoying our drinks at Austur we ran into Thor aka The Mountain (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson) from the series Game of Thrones, he is the strongest man in Iceland and World's Strongest Man. Thor's hands are absolutely massive, look at the photo comparison to my hand. Thor is an awesome dude, very humble and fun to talk to.
Other fantastic bars & nightclubs we checked out where the Danish pub called Der Danske Kro and a cool hipster bar called Dolly (now closed). The ratio of guys to girls in Reykjavik on a Saturday night is excellent. I wish I could stay longer but after this intense experience I am already thinking of making a comeback next time on route to Europe.
