Chillon Castle is built on a tiny rocky island and fortified since Roman times, nobody quite knows when the first castle foundations were laid but some estimate that the castle is at least 1000 years old.
Underneath the castle we found a giant prison complex, impressive to say the least but bear in mind is that Chillon Castle wasn't constructed all at once.
The castle complex is a collection of 25 little buildings crammed onto this rocky island. It must be so much fun to run around as kids playing hide-and-seek at this place.
Chateau de Chillon was also used as the inspiration for Prince Eric's castle in Disney's The Little Mermaid.
