Dave Rodgers is the Godfather of Eurobeat music which he began producing in 1985 and produced over 2000 songs. These were the questions we asked during the Dave Rodgers Fan Meeting Q&A session at Maharaja Nightclub in Tokyo:
Best Places in Tokyo
1. Did you change after moving to Sun Fire?
2. Which car do you think of while making Eurobeat music?
3. How is Karen doing? (Eurobeat Artist)
4. Who do you want to sing a duet with?
5. What are your future plans?
6. Do you have other aliases?
I am a big fan of Eurobeat music for its high energy and solid melodies so I decided to fly down to Japan to see the Dave Rodgers live show in Tokyo, I was even fortunate enough to be invited to the Fan Meeting including a Q&A interview session, autograph session and photo session.
7. What is your favorite food?
8. Can you tell about the song Try Me?
9. What can I include in my Eurobeat cartoons?
Dave Rodgers is one of my idols and meeting him in person in Tokyo, Japan was a dream come true. The last time Dave Rodgers performed in Japan was in Osaka, 2006. You can imagine how stoked his fans were when they realized his return to Japan. The man is considered a true legend.
Dave Rodgers signed my copy of Super Eurobeat 250 CD which sadly is the last installment in the longest running CD collection in the world (since 1990) but above all I got to take a photo with the man himself. Sadly, I couldn't go to his shows in Nagoya and Osaka but hopefully he will return to Japan again in the near future.
Initial D, the super popular Anime series about drifting has boosted many Eurobeat songs in the past years, Deja Vu in particular which has been listened to 80 million times on YouTube alone, maybe we can see a revival of Eurobeat in the coming years.
David Dima was at the fan meeting as well, David is mostly known for popular songs like: Tsundere Night, With a Little Bit of True Love, Heart's on Fire, and 1 Week. Special thanks to JMLee for providing the English translations in the video. Go support her channel!
